A Christmas gift for a World War One Veteran
Willie Lee Hendrix was born in 1896 and died in 1938 and was buried in Maloney Springs Cemetery next to his father John Henry Hendrix, 1864-1936. Willie was buried in an unmarked grave next to his father. Willie served in the US Army during World War One.
Volunteers from the Horace Orr American Legion post in Marietta have been taking care of Maloney Springs Cemetery and ordered a bronze grave marker from the Department of Veterans Affairs Cemetery Division. The Legion Post purchased a granite base stone from Roberts Shields Memorial Co. and volunteers placed the marker on Willie’s grave. We were unable to locate any of Willie’s relatives.
