Commander’s Column

Welcome to the Christmas Holidays! I hope everyone had a chance to spend a safe and fun Thanksgiving with their friends and Families. I am sure it was better than last year’s.

We just completed a full November at the Post. We participated in the Marietta Veterans Day Parade and held our Annual 5K Race on November 13th. All our events were very successful! Also, we had a great meal available in the SQ on Thanksgiving Day for our Family. I want to say thanks to our Staff who worked that day. Please keep an eye on the What’s Happening Emails to see what upcoming events are planned for December.

Membership continues to be a priority! Please renew if you haven’t yet. As of January 1, 2022, you will be required to have a 2022 Membership Card in order to be served in the SQ, no exceptions. Just remember, your Membership enables the Post to offer help to our Veterans and their Families in a time of need! We will be changing the Door Key Cards in the very near future.

We will be presenting our Golf Tournament Donations at our December 2nd General Meeting. All these funds go to our Marietta First Responders as they have in the past. This year’s Tournament was the best we have had to date. Thanks to Jim Kopp and his Committee. Please come join us and help us Honor these groups that night, dinner will be at 6pm and the program will start at 7pm.

Our 7th Annual 5K Race was a major success, Tom Bell and his Committee did an outstanding job! I want to thank all the people who helped make it happen. Tom and his Committee are hard at work getting all the details wrapped up. We will be presenting these Donations at our January 6th General Meeting.

We will again be supporting the Park School Children with our Annual Christmas Gifts. However, again this year we are not able to be there in person due to COVID precautions. We are planning a brief Zoom session, the details are being worked out at this point.

In closing, I hope all our Members and their Families have a safe and Blessed Christmas. I want to thank all Veterans, Men and d Women for their Services to our Great Nation. Also, my thanks to our Post Family Units who support them, we salute them! Merry Christmas!
