Post 29 Oratorical Winner Does it Again!

Audrey McNeal, the¬†winner of our Oratorical Contest on January 18, represented us proudly at the District Contest Saturday, taking first place once again. Audrey is a senior at Harrison High, a Girl’s State¬† and Nation alum in 2018, and a member of the National Honor Society. She is a member of Youth Leadership Cobb, and has published a book of poetry,” A Lake of Stars.” She intends to become the U.S. Secretary of State someday. Talk about a resume!

Constitutional Speech Contest 1.18.2020

                        Almost time for the High School Constitutional Speech Contest

Saturday, January 18, right here at Post 29 marks the start of a journey that could culminate in over $23,000.00 in cash and scholarships for an area high schooler. Some of the best and brightest students from throughout the area will be competing in the 83rd annual American Legion High School Oratorical Speech Contest. You are strongly encouraged to attend, not only to support the students, but to be treated to an amazing display of patriotism and oratorical excellence.  You will leave even prouder to be an American. 2019 Charity Golf Tournament-MONDAY

Our 23rd annual charity golf tournament will be held Monday September 16th at Dogwood Golf Club. Please arrive early; our Shotgun Start will be at 8AM.

All the details are on our website. Registration entitles you to lots of goodies, plus breakfast and lunch. All proceeds benefit the children’s charities of the Cobb and Marietta First Responders.

2019 Boys State & Girls State

Georgia Boys State is a comprehensive one-week course in state and local government conducted by The American Legion Department of Georgia. Georgia Girls State is a similar but separate program, conducted by The American Legion Auxiliary Department of Georgia. Both programs are open to high school students who have completed their Junior Year.

The 2019 session of Boys State will begin May 26, 2019 and conclude June 1, 2019. Boys state will be held at Riverside Military Academy in Gainesville, Georgia. The 2019 session of Girls State will be June 9-14, 2019 at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Georgia.

Boys State and Girls State are Leadership Action Programs where qualified high school rising seniors take part in a practical government course. The program is designed to develop a working knowledge of the structure of government and to impress upon the citizen the fact that our government is just what we make it.
