On Wednesday September 29th, Horace Orr Post 29 will celebrate it’s 102nd birthday.
Please join us in the Social Quarters for cake and a few surprises. We will also have a short report from our esteemed Historian.
Please plan to gather in the SQ around 5PM, and the program will begin shortly after everyone gets settled. It will be short, so that others may get to events and meetings that begin at 6PM.
Friends, let’s continue to be careful with our health. COVID cases are spiking significantly again. Although there are some reports that the current variant is less deadly, especially for those who are vaccinated, it still is a serious virus.
As we have since 2020, Post 29 will follow the emergency and health mandates enacted by our Governor, Cobb County, and the Marietta Mayor. As of today, there are no new mandates that impact our ability to remain open, or serve you. However, if this changes, our operations will change. Please stay up to date by following these posts and emails.
As a reminder, if you are sick, or have symptoms of COVID, please stay home. We can and will ask sick patrons to leave. If you become exposed to someone who has COVID, please self-quarantine until you are cleared by a negative test.
Current CDC guidelines for a positive test is to quarantine for 10 days from the date of the test, or the onset of symptoms. Current guidelines for being exposed to someone who is positive is to quarantine for 10 days from the last exposure. If you get a negative test at least 5 days after your exposure, then your quarantine may end after 7 days.
The Social Quarters will close early on Saturday August 7th and we will be closed all day Sunday, August 8th so that we can do maintenance on the bar. Thank you for your understanding.
Be sure to check the newsletter or Facebook to see all the fun events we will host in the SQ during May, including live music and dancing on Fridays.
Please note, these events are for members and guests only.
We’ll be enjoying the Kentucky Derby all day in the Social Quarters.
Festivities begin at 2PM. Races on TV all day.
Come enjoy the run for the roses.

The Lenten season is upon us. This is generally considered a time of sacrifice and reflection.
Would you please consider reflecting upon, and honoring your loved ones who have served this great country, by listing their name, rank and branch of service on the Plaque of Honor hanging on the left wall as you enter the Legion social quarters.
Simply ask your bartenders or servers for the “Plaque of Honor” form and fill it out. A small fee of $25.00 will enshrine your loved one for ever.
Thank you for your kind consideration.
The Social Quarters is our hub of activity at Post 29. We enjoy hosting post members and guests, and we appreciate your business.
Since we have many new members, and as a reminder for our regulars, there are House Rules enforced in the Social Quarters.
These rules are posted in the SQ, and we have an entire book of the rules and policies. These are kept in the podium where the Guest Log is displayed. Below the Guest Log, on the lower shelf, is our book of House Rules and other policies. Please read them and familiarize yourself with them.
Here are a couple quick highlights:
- We have a dress code. It’s posted outside the entrance to the SQ.
- The SQ is closed to the public. A current ID card is required to enter. Guests may enter with a current member for a limited number of visits.
- The bartender controls access to the SQ. Only the bartender or a Legion Officer should allow someone without a door card to enter.
- During COVID19 we are asking all entrants, not only guests, to sign our registry.
- We are operating at reduced hours during COVID19. Standard closing time is 7PM. The bartender has discretion, but often makes last call 15 minutes before closing.
If you have any questions, you may ask the SQ Managers Teresa Myer or Junior Vice Commander Russ Wood. If neither are available, the bartender on duty or any Legion Officer present may assist you.
Due to low attendance, we will be reducing the Social Quarters hours of operation to one shift per day beginning in November. We will expand hours as attendance returns.
Additionally, the post will be closed Thanksgiving Day so our staff may enjoy their holiday with family. If you know of anyone who needs assistance this time of year, please contact our Service Officer or any Legion Board Member.
As we continue to operate during the COVID19 pandemic, and under very strict regulations, we offer this reminder on how each of us can do our part to protect ourselves and our fellow members.
As we have posted outside our entrance, no person exhibiting any symptoms of COVID19 shall enter. Do the right thing and stay home. If we suspect you are ill, we will ask you to leave.
Due to a request from the Health Department, we are requiring everyone who enters the Social Quarters to sign our log book. No exceptions.
Our maximum capacity in the Social Quarters is 74.
Our staff shall wear face coverings, and we encourage you to wear them as well. This is very important if you are in close proximity to others. We have some to share, so ask the bartender.
Refrain from handshaking and other person to person contact.
We have hand sanitizer located in multiple areas. Use it frequently. Wash your hands often with soap and water.
All patrons must have a seat. You may stand at your seat, but there is no loitering. We have closed some tables, do not use them. We have moved other tables so that they are appropriately spaced. Do no move them. We can have no more than six (6) patrons per table. Do not pull tables together or add chairs to your table.
Thank you for helping us follow the regulations so that we may continue to remain open and serve you.
