No New Year’s Eve Party

Due to the surging Covid cases, which are impacting our membership, our staff, and the staff of our caterer, we are cancelling the NYE Party in the Social Quarters.

We are disappointed to have to do this, but it is in the best interest of our members and staff.

For now, we plan to have the SQ open normal hours on Friday, 12/31, but there will not be food or live music.

Thank you for your understanding.

OMG Omicron

I hope everyone had a nice Christmas or Holiday. We are happy to welcome you back to the Social Quarters, but please note that the Omicron variant of Covid is surging in our area. Here are some important reminders:

  • We are following all federal, state, and local regulations.
  • We can and will refuse to allow entry to anyone showing symptoms of Covid. Our members are a vulnerable group, and we take their health and safety very seriously.
  • If you are exposed, you should quarantine. If you have symptoms, you should isolate. Current CDC guidelines on testing and quarantine are here.
  • Please continue to practice good hygiene. Keep a safe distance from others, and wear a mask where appropriate.
  • Covid can disrupt our plans very quickly. If staff become sick, or if guidelines change, we may have to adjust our hours of operation on short notice. Large events may be cancelled. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Toys For Tots

We are collecting new unwrapped toys to support the Marine Corps Toys for Tots program.
You may bring gifts for kids of any age, but gifts for teenagers are in short supply.
We are accepting gifts through December 19th.
As an added incentive, if you bring a gift to the SQ, we will give you ONE free raffle ticket for the Tuesday drawing. See your bartender to collect.

Post 29 Birthday 9.29.2021

On Wednesday September 29th, Horace Orr Post 29 will celebrate it’s 102nd birthday.

Please join us in the Social Quarters for cake and a few surprises. We will also have a short report from our esteemed Historian.

Please plan to gather in the SQ around 5PM, and the program will begin shortly after everyone gets settled. It will be short, so that others may get to events and meetings that begin at 6PM.

COVID Updates

Friends, let’s continue to be careful with our health. COVID cases are spiking significantly again. Although there are some reports that the current variant is less deadly, especially for those who are vaccinated, it still is a serious virus.

As we have since 2020, Post 29 will follow the emergency and health mandates enacted by our Governor, Cobb County, and the Marietta Mayor. As of today, there are no new mandates that impact our ability to remain open, or serve you. However, if this changes, our operations will change. Please stay up to date by following these posts and emails.

As a reminder, if you are sick, or have symptoms of COVID, please stay home. We can and will ask sick patrons to leave. If you become exposed to someone who has COVID, please self-quarantine until you are cleared by a negative test.

Current CDC guidelines for a positive test is to quarantine for 10 days from the date of the test, or the onset of symptoms. Current guidelines for being exposed to someone who is positive is to quarantine for 10 days from the last exposure. If you get a negative test at least 5 days after your exposure, then your quarantine may end after 7 days.
