Our Charities

Over the five-year history of the Veteran's Memorial 5k, we've raised over $350k for veterans' charities right here in Georgia. This year, our goal is to raise over $150k for our local charities.

Horace Orr Post 29, Inc. Veterans' Assistance Fund - Our internal resources are directed to the benefit of veterans and their families in Marietta. Most assistance is supervised by our Post Service Officer. Additionally, we support other local programs, such as the Cobb Veterans Court, veterans in local retirement homes, and food, shelter, and clothing for veterans in need.

The SHARE Military Initiative at Shepherd Center - Our race supports The Shepherd's Men, a local group of volunteers who raise funds for the SHARE Military initiative at Shepherd Center. SHARE Military Initiative at Shepherd Center in Atlanta, Georgia is a comprehensive rehabilitation program that focuses on assessment and treatment for service men and women who have sustained a mild to moderate Traumatic Brain Injury, along with co-occurring Post Traumatic Stress or other mental health concerns (such as depression or anxiety), from service in post-9/11 wars. SHARE provides the resources and tools to eliminate or reduce the symptoms of these injuries and successfully return our veterans to their homes, families, and communities. SHARE offers a broad continuum of care, specifically tailored to meet the needs of each veteran, including housing, physical, occupational, vocational and speech therapies, life coaching, therapeutic recreation and legal, financial and psychological counseling. The Initiative also provides medical care, pain management and other specialized services. All care is free of charge to the veteran.

Georgia National Guard Family Support Foundation -
The Georgia National Guard Family Support Foundation, Inc. provides emergency relief assistance during times of financial crisis to the members and families of the Georgia National Guard, federal/state civilian employees of the Georgia Department of Defense and other qualified military members living in the State of Georgia.
