From the Auxiliary

Girl’s State is a National program of the American Legion Auxiliary and is a course of instruction in as well as a practical application of the fundamental principles and procedures of city, county and state government under the American system.   A session, usually lasting five days in June, is conducted with the top-ranking high school girls as citizens.   Under the guidance of skilled counselors and other staff members who are leading citizens, these girls learn and then practice through self-government, the duties, responsibilities, and privileges of American citizenship.   Unit 29 Auxiliary is sponsoring up to 6 girls to attend.  They do not need to be a junior member just interested in learning about our government.  Contact any board member for guidance in applying.

It’s now time to renew your 2022 American Legion Auxiliary dues.  As of December 31, 2021, your card is no longer valid, and your membership is not current.   The Post has installed a new door card reader and the blue card is no longer useable for entrance into the Social Quarters.

Senior Membership Dues are $30 and Junior dues are $10.  You can renew in a few different ways:

  • Cash, check or credit card at Post 29 in the Social Quarters with any bartender (checks payable to ALA).  Your new membership card and yellow key card to you immediately.
  • Mail check to ALA at Post 29, 921 Gresham Avenue NE, Marietta, 30060, attention Auxiliary.
  • Pay online at by clicking  “Renew” in the top right corner then log in and click on the “Pay Dues”. You will then be prompted to review your member info and input your payment information. You can pay with a credit/debit card online.
  • Pay by phone by calling National Headquarters at (317) 569-4570.  Have your member ID ready.

We are striving to meet our department goal again this year for the fourth straight year so please renew as soon as possible.  In this crazy year, we have not lost sight of our Veterans and need to continue to support them and their families.  I hope we can count on your help once again.

Great news for the Unit 29 Junior members!  Membership has voted on a Scholarship Grant in the amount of $1000.  The Junior member must have been active for three years with Unit 29 and in good standing.  A completed application must be sent to president of the Auxiliary by the June 30 with a supporting acceptance letter/email from the postsecondary educational institution showing the student will be a full-time student.  The Educational Institution does not have to be in the State of Georgia.

Scholarship will be awarded directly to the student(s) at the August meeting.  Unit 29 is excited to continue this Scholarship Grant Program.  We encourage our Juniors to continue in our program and attend a college or university as they graduate high school and become senior members. Applications are available from any Auxiliary Officer.

For God and Country,

Linda Dudley, President

American Legion Auxiliary, Post 29
