As I write this newsletter we’re halfway through the Christmas Holliday Season. I hope the holidays brought much happiness to you and your families, and of course to all of our American Legion families.
The SAL Kitchen Crew
For the month December the SAL Kitchen Crew hosted the American Legion Monthly Dinner Meeting for December where the monies were dispersed to our charities associated with the American Legion’s annual golf tournament. We also held our monthly SAL Breakfast where Santa was present for our little friends. We are pleased to see our attendance for the breakfast picking up. We served 145 breakfasts, the most since Covid hit us. Prior to Covid we were serving around 200. We thank each and every one who supports the breakfast. Next month, tell a friend or bring them along.
Our plans for January will be to prepare diner for the American Legion’s monthly meeting on January 6th where the charity monies from the 5K race will be dispersed. Russell and Joe and the Kitchen crew are going to prepare a special meal for our Legionnaire members and guests. If you are an American Legion member and have not been coming to the meetings, make a New Years’ resolution and come enjoy the meal and participate in your Legion.
The Crew will be hosting Uncle Pete’s breakfast on January 8th, and our Monthly SAL Breakfast again on January 15th.
We have begun talks for other events but have decided to table them to see if any Covid restrictions will be coming back.
There will be a 5th District Training Session on January 22 from 10 AM until 1 PM at Post 296 – Marietta. This is located at 906 West Atlanta St, Marietta, GA. Please text Tom Rieger, our Squadron Adjutant, for information, at 404 433 7626, if interested.
To members of the SAL – Please mark on your calendar’s for Tuesday January 25th at 7:00PM for our SAL meeting. All meetings will start at 7:00 pm upstairs in the small hall. If you haven’t been attending meetings, we’d like to see you attend and bring your ideas for future SAL events and to mingle with your fellow SAL members.
Our 2022 membership drive continues. Please renew as soon as possible. We will be sending out message and making phone calls right after the holidays to encourage all the SAL members that have not paid their 2022 dues to please pay.
As part of our membership drive, ask some of your friends if they might be interested in joining our SAL post. Tell them of the good work we do in the community. Bring them as a guest to the post to show them our social quarters and meet the best bar staff and best prices for adult beverages.
If you have already paid your 2022 dues, thank you. If you have not yet paid them please stop by the Legion Social Quarters or consider doing your renewal by mail. As of January 1, 2022 you will not be allowed in the Social Quarters nor have the use of any of the Social Quarter’s privileges without a 2022 card.
Your 2022 dues are $25 for a SAL renewal or $10 for a youth or dual membership.
