Veterans’ Day 2019

Here’s a quick update on Veterans’ Day 2019.

The Post will participate in the Marietta/Kiwanis Veterans’ Day Parade. The parade begins at 11am on Monday November 11th. The program on the Marietta Square will begin at noon. Participants will return to the Post around 1PM. To ride in our float, contact the Commander for details.

We will serve lunch to our members at 1:30pm on Monday the 11th. Lunch will be served upstairs in the main hall. The menu will include pot roast and a soup. There will be a signup sheet in the Social Quarters to bring sides and deserts.

More details will be available in this newsletter, in the Social Quarters, and our monthly newsletter.

SAL Monthly Meeting Tonight

The SAL monthly meeting is the fourth Tuesday of each month at 6:30pm after the Queen of Hearts.  We will be meeting upstairs in the small hall.

Your Commander and E-Board need your support as we plan,  implement activities and participate in legion activities.  We need your input into these things- so please try to participate and attend our meetings.

SQ Bingo – Monday 10.28.2019

We are experimenting with Bar Bingo in the Social Quarters. We are trying to host this most Monday evenings from 6:00-8:00. This is not a traditional paid Bingo game with cash prizes, and it’s not open to the public. But for our members, we make it fun, and we do have prizes we think you’ll like. If members like this, we’ll expand it and make it a regular thing.

at the

Cobb County Civic Center

548 S. Marietta Parkway, Marietta, 30060

The Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Atlanta and the Georgia Department of Veterans Service are partnering to say “Thank You” to Korean War Veterans for their honorable military service and personal sacrifice by hosting a special medal and certificate ceremony. This event will involve the presentation of the Republic of Korea’s Ambassador for Peace Medal and Georgia’s Korean War Veteran Certificate of Honor. Every Georgia veteran with honorable service during the Korean War (June 25, 1950 to July 27, 1953) is eligible to receive this certificate and peace medal lapel pin (This includes veterans with service in-country and those who were stationed elsewhere in other capacities).  It is also available for veterans who participated in the United Nations Peacekeeping Operations through the end of 1955. The Ambassador for Peace Medal began to be presented to veterans as a special memento for those American veterans who returned to Republic of Korea through the “Revisit Program.” The honor was expanded to veterans who have been unable to participate.  The State’s Certificate of Honor is personalized with the Korean War veteran’s name, rank, branch of service, and dates of service printed over the Seal of the State of Georgia and includes the official Korean War logo. These certificates are signed by Governor Brian Kemp and GDVS Commissioner Mike Roby.

DEADLINE TO SIGN UP: Friday, October 11, 2019
