On Wednesday December 19th, Horace Orr Post 29 hosted Santa Claus at the Park St. Elementary School. The purpose of this event is to provide gifts and Holiday Cheer to 18 special needs children. Post 29 has enjoyed a 30 year relationship with Park St. Elementary, providing gifts at Christmas and supplies during the year. It is a tremendous program that puts smiles on children’s faces while they deal with very difficult circumstances in their lives. It was inspiring to watch the dedicated teachers and staff work with these wonderful children!
Santa Claus ( Dick Hill) and Mrs. Claus (Bernadette LaRoche) were outstanding in their interaction with the children, teachers, and staff. Commander Walt Cusick and Tom Bell of the SAL served as elves, passing out presents. The picture below is of Santa and Mrs. Claus with the teachers and staff of Park St. Elementary.
This is an outstanding and important outreach program for the legion, that we hope goes on for another 30 years!

Toy’s are coming in on a daily basis now. We are swamped with work to get them sorted for distribution. Please Help!
The address is:
829 Pickens Industrial Dr. Suite #8
Marietta , GA 30062
This is the Cobb county location and it is within 3 miles of American Legion Post 29.
Hours of operation are through 12/21:
M-F 12 PM to 4 PM Weekends 10 AM to 4 PM
If you have an hour or more available in your day, please contact Olga T Noel.
Olga has been sorting toys and most of the time she is the only one there doing this job. We need help to get it all done by 21 December. Thank you for your consideration. Be advised this is a warehouse type environment (i.e. cement floors, wear comfortable shoes, it can get cold with the shipping bays open to receive toys). If you are into “counting steps” you will get a whole lot in but the work is gratifying.
If 1 or 2 people want to come help, they can just drop in. If 4 or more volunteer, please call to schedule a slot. Too many at a time gets to be chaotic and counterproductive.
