The Department of Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency announced the return of (15) fifteen U. S. servicemen to their families this week for burial with full military honors and to bring closure to their loved ones.

Our 243rd Marine Corps Birthday Ball celebration is scheduled for Saturday, November 3, 2018 at the Atlanta Marriott Northwest at Galleria located at

200 Interstate North Parkway SE, Atlanta, GA 30339.  Cocktail hour will start at 1800 followed by the ceremony which promptly begins at 1900.  The

Marine Corps Ball is open to any guest so please extend the invitation to your family and friends.

Ticket prices are as follows:

SNCO/Officers/Civilians = $60 per person

Sergeants and Below (and their guest) = $55 per person

22nd Annual Charity Golf Tournament

Our charity golf tournament is filling up. Sign up to play for $125 ($100 for post members) or be a sponsor for as little as $100. Entry includes golf, breakfast, lunch, mulligans, and several gifts. We’ll play Monday September 17th at Dogwood Golf Club and then return to Post 29 for lunch and a live auction. We also are holding a raffle for a new gas grill and $400 of food. See Allen Rosenfield or Tom Bell for more information. Proceeds benefit the Children’s Christmas programs of Cobb and Marietta fire and police. Plaque of Rememberance

The SAL is selling name plates on their Plaque of Remembrance to honor the fathers and sponsors who served. You can list your sponsor prominently for $25. Please see Tom Reiger, Tom Bell, or one of the Social Quarters Staff to place an order.

Auxiliary Cookbook

Post 29 Legion Auxiliary is creating a Cookbook. Bring your recipe to be included. Up to 150 recipes for dishes of all types and styles will be included in a cookbook to be sold during the holidays. Neatly print your recipe and drop with one of the Social Quarters staff, or email it to bernadettel@earthlink.net . Deadline for submission is September 12th.

Auxiliary Quilt Raffle 9/3

At the convention in June, the Auxiliary won a quilt that was the Department President’s project for the year. We will be raffling off this quilt during the month of August, with the winner being chosen at the Labor Day picnic on September 3rd. Tickets will be $2 each/three for $5. See a member of the Auxiliary to participate.

Labor Day Member Lunch

On Monday September 3rd, we’ll be serving free lunch to members and their families. Come enjoy brisket and chicken, baked beans, and macaroni and cheese. Bring a desert or side dish to share. The Social Quarters will be open normal hours. We’ll serve food upstairs around 1PM.
